NEWSLETTER Term 4 Week 3

Kaya Parents & Carers

Ms Goodlad has been on Long Service Leave so far this Term and we are looking forward to her returning to school on Monday.

There have been several events already this Term and there are some more coming up in the coming weeks.  All of the events below provide wonderful learning experiences for our students, but they also take planning and teamwork from staff and parents to make them possible.

Year 6 Camp

Last week 28 of our Year 6 students attended a two-day camp at Bickley Outdoor Recreation Camp.  The students participated in some excellent activities, all requiring great teamwork to succeed.  Congratulations to the students who attended camp.  We felt that this year’s group were one of the best that we have taken on camp.  Their teamwork towards each other and their willingness to help throughout the camp was a credit to themselves and their parents.  Can I also extend a huge thank you to the staff members who attended.  Some staff were there throughout, and others volunteered to come and help with preparing the evening meal. Thanks to Mrs Lovell, Mr Nicholas, Mrs Dagostino, Mr Thompson, Mrs Walker, Mrs O’Neill and Mr Noblet.

Swimming Lessons

Swimming Lessons are coming up in Week 7 and 8 of this Term.  We encourage all students to participate as we feel that being able to swim is an essential skill for people living in Australia.

AQWA

This week the Kindy and Pre-Primary students from Room 13 and 15 have been on an excursion to AQWA.  The excursion builds on the learning that Room 13 and 15 have been doing about the ocean so far this Term.  Thank you to the staff that put together the excursion and helped to provide the memorable experience for the students.  Thank you also to the many parents and carers who came along to assist on the day.

Massed Choir

Mrs O’Neill and our school choir are participating in The Massed Choir Festival on the night of Tuesday 5 November.  This year’s event will be at HBF stadium, which is a wonderful experience for the students involved.  The choir have been working very hard throughout the year and their efforts have been building towards this major performance.  Thank you also to Mrs De Cristoforo and Mrs Memarian who are assisting Mrs O’Neill and the choir on the Monday or Tuesday.

Take care.
