Kaya, Wanjoo Parents & Carers
This year we have been reflecting on our beautiful little school and thinking about what sets us aside from other schools in the area. We have come to the conclusion that it is our shared moral purpose that makes us so special. At KPS, we have high expectations of ourselves, our students and our community. We are anchored by respectful relationships, we value cultural diversity, and we believe that nurturing the social and emotional development of every child, is just as important as supporting them to strive for academic excellence. Above all… we pride ourselves on KINGSLEY KIDS being KIND KIDS! I wish to extend a sincere thank you to Mr Noblet who has worked his magic to create an inspiring infographic that depicts our shared moral purpose. You will see the infographic displayed around the school.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to welcome Mrs Phyllis Greaves officially to the Kingsley staff. Mrs Greaves will be teaching in Room 2 on Fridays whilst Mrs Alice Leitch is on maternity leave for the rest of the year. We are all looking forward to the safe arrival of the newest member of the Leitch family, and I know our other Mrs Leitch will be very excited to welcome another grandchild into her home!
The last few chilly mornings are a great indicator that we have entered the Noongar season of Makuru and that we should brace for the winter days that lay ahead of us. I want to take this opportunity to remind all families of our Dress Code which states that jackets and jumpers with hoods are not permitted to be worn at school. We understand that sometimes it’s difficult to get your child’s uniform dry during these wet months, but please ensure that if they do wear an alternative jacket or jumper that it is royal blue and that it does not have a hood. If you have not already done so, please label all clothing items…our Lost Property Box has been overflowing!

Fire Safety Incursion
Room 8 and Room 9 were treated to a visit from the Armadale Fire Station. The classes listened to a talk about fire safety before going out to the oval to get up close to the Fire and Rescue Trucks. Students were shown all the equipment used to fight fires and rescue people (and the occasional cat!). Students were then able to use the fire hose to try and knock down a cone. The water came out very fast and it was quite tricky to direct the flow of the water. Well done to all the students who participated and don’t forget your fire safety instructions.
In case of Fire
- Alert others in the house.
- Get out of the house. Drop low if there is smoke.
- Don’t stop for pets, they will get out themselves.
- Meet up at the letterbox.
- Call 000.
National Simultaneous Storytime 2024 – Bowerbird Blues
Here are a couple of photos from this morning during the National Simultaneous Storytime session. We invited Room 13 to join us in Room 15 and joined the live stream at 10 o’clock. We listened to the author Aura Parker read her story “Bowerbird Blues” to 2 341 490 people in 21 000 different locations in Australia, New Zealand and around the world!
Interschool Cross-Country
Last Friday we took our Cross-Country squad to the Interschool Cross-Country carnival held at Willandra PS.
All of our students showed amazing effort, resilience and sportsmanship. We were so proud of all of you!
Special mention to Cheyeene Anderson who came home with Runner-Up Senior Girl Champion. You ran an amazing race!
