NEWSLETTER Term 1 Week 9

Kaya, Wanjoo Parents & Carers

In the blink of an eye… we find ourselves in Autumn and edging closer to the end of term one. As I reflect on the term, I am always astonished by how much we actually achieve in a nine week period and attribute our successes to our dedicated staff and the ongoing support of our parent body.

We had our first School Council meeting yesterday and sadly some of our members have had to resign their positions due to personal / work commitments. I wish to say a heartfelt thank you to Glenn Noblet,  Mark Harrington, Siobhan Jefferies, Hayley McHenry and Jessica Vestby Iles for their advice and support for the duration of their time on the Council. We are currently seeking nominations for one Community Member position and four Parent / Carer positions. If you are interested in joining our dynamic team and having a voice with regards to the future of our beautiful school, then please come into the office and pick up a nomination form. Alternatively, contact the school and we can email a form to you.

As of Term Two, we ask that parents do not send cakes, lollies or icy poles in with their children to celebrate birthdays etc. Many of our students have allergies, special dietary requirements or cultural / religious considerations when it comes to the types of food that their children can / cannot consume. As parents, we have the right to make decisions about the types of food that our children eat, so with School Council endorsement, we have made the decision to discontinue this practice.

Wishing everyone a safe and restful holiday and looking forward to seeing students back on Monday 15 April for an eleven week term of learning!

HASS Incursion

Room 1 & 3 have been learning about History and artifacts. Miss B from History House in Armadale came to our classrooms and showed us some really cool old technology and artifacts. We had to guess what they were used for, some of our answers were funny after we found out what they were really used for. We learnt so much about old things. Old things are our history that we need to know about.
